Mince-aniki (メンチ兄 (あに) 貴 (き) , Menchi aniki?) is one of the Characters in The Summer Hikaru Died, written and illustrated by Mokumokuren.

Appearance[]

Mince-meat's coat is completely white. He has a round face, yellow eyes, and a short tail. His tail is much longer in the anime. He is chubby due to the extra food he's given from the townspeople.

Personality[]

Mince-aniki has a relaxed, affectionate demeanor. He has a good relationship with the town's butcher, who often feeds him scraps of meat.[1] He is used to interacting with humans, often cuddling up to them to ask for pets,[2] and he normally does not show aggression or shy away from people. However, he disliked Indou Hikaru and has scratched him before. He is initially afraid of "Hikaru", reacting by hissing and running away,[1] but gradually warms up to him over time. He dislikes being picked up and carried.[3]

Etymology[]

  • Mince-aniki's name is derived from the loanword for "mincemeat" (メンチ menchi).
  • The suffix attached means "older brother" (兄貴 aniki). The term is said to be used by delinquents or yakuza families to refer to their leader. It is common for people to use "aniki" as an affectionate nickname for animals with gruff-looking faces.[4]
