Grandfather Indou (じいちゃん, Jii-chan?) is one of the Characters in The Summer Hikaru Died, written and illustrated by Mokumokuren.

Overview[]

The grandfather of Hikaru. He works in shiitake mushroom cultivation.

Appearance[]

He is an elderly man of short stature. He wears large-framed glasses, a baseball cap, and has a liver spot on his left cheek.

Personality[]

He is friendly toward "Hikaru" and Yoshiki. He is currently showing early symptoms of cognitive decline.[1]

History[]

Like all men in the Indou family, Grandfather Indou also partook in the ritual on Nisayama.[2]

Etymology[]

  • The kanji of his surname, Indou, are "mourning; abhor, detest(able)" (忌 in) and "hall; shrine" (堂 dou).
