In my interpretation, Hikaru died before he got to fully understand his own identity or Yoshiki's feelings. he was probably just starting to realize one or the other or both. but I think it fits best with the themes of the story that he didn't get to grow up and learn who he was outside of his family's ritual. :(

Yoshiki being very gay is the only correct answer, imo. xD

Hikaru, as Mac has already stated and I'm just going to repeat most of it, haha, never really got the chance to figure that out for himself, and as much as I would like to delve deeper into OG Hikaru's thoughts and feelings, ultimately the story is probably better off leaving that a mystery. (I still want to know more sooo badly tho. I'm so excited whenever we get a flashback of any kind. I feel like OG Hikaru probably had his own inner struggle of some kind and exploring that could be so interesting, but alas)

And our dearly possesed "Hikaru" is just something else entirely. He is not human, he is not necessarily a boy at all, so he probably can't even be considered gay. He just loves Yoshiki and being seen and accepted by him and that's all he needs and wants. (and the occasional head pat, maybe. And ice cream.)

Well Yoshiki is absolutely gay without any doubt. However, I wonder why Indou Hikaru was attracted by a famale-like tree which caused his death while his last wish is to be continue being company with Yoshiki. Maybe Indou Hiraru likes Yoshiki that he didn't figure out until the last minute of his life.

Honesty i can’t tell at this point. I’ve been picking apart this show (i have yet to pick through the books) and i just can’t tell. If i had to say now is that Yoshiki is gay but Hikaru has mixed feelings about it. They’re both in denial but when Hikaru gets possessed, they possessed version just thinks that these romantic feelings towards Yoshiki are normal and okay for it to be public and just dont understand the complexity of the emotions. Given why he showed Yoshiki his naked body thinking that that was ok for him to do because he likes Yoshiki. Honestly im lowkey confusing myself but im getting there 🥹
